Michael Adams Bailey passed away on July 22, 2023, at the age of 76. He was in Wonder City Skilled Nursing Home in Hopewell, Virginia.
Michael was born on November 17, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to parents, Wilbert (Jack) and Martha Bailey. He was predeceased in death by his parents; and sister, Andrea Bailey Grammer. He was the second of three children. He was known to all as Mike. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1965. He was always interested in the building industry. Mike retired from Builder's Supply Company of Petersburg Inc in 2012 after 40 years. He was also the last owner of the Village Diner in Surry, Virginia. Where he and his lifetime love operated from 1994 to 2002. He was post commodore of the Hopewell Yacht Club in Hopewell, Virginia. Mike loved the water. Michael spoke to everyone like his father with a friendly smile.
Michael is survived by his son, David Bailey and his wife, Jessica; his sister, Janice Harrell and her husband, Ted; brother-in-law, Warner Grammer; sister-in-law, Nancy and JB. As well as Michael's lifetime love and partner, Sandy Johnson of 38 years. His nieces, Dawn and husband, Will Elliot, Lynn and husband, Andy Babish, Stacy, Andrea, Sydney, and Amy Harrell. He had eight great-nephews and two great-nieces.
He is also survived by his extended family, Tara and Trip Rouse; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Chip Sutherland, Brandon Rouse, Hunter Chacon, Henry and Linda Johnson, Danny and Linda Rolley Lindell, Hope Rolley Taylor Dodd, Tommy and Beverly Moss, Brenda White and son, William White, Brian and Holly McCaffity, Amber and Christian McCaffity, Jim and Diane Wilcox.
A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2023, at 3:00 P.M., in the chapel of J.T. Morriss Funeral Home in Petersburg, 103 S Adams Street, Peterburg, Virginia 23803.

A private burial will be held at United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Virginia, at a later date.
