Michael Gerald Merritt

Mike G. Merritt, 38, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Shannon Merritt; his children, Mason Michael Merritt and Madison Marie Merritt, whom he dearly loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his father, Gerald Merritt, Jr.; mother, Kathleen Sullivan; a sister, Leanne Benhajlarbi (Madher); maternal grandmother, Julie Haley; mother and father-in-law, Vickie and Rex Moore; grandparents-in-law, Carolyn and Bobby Capps; brothers-in-law, Bobby Moore (Marissa) and Ryan Moore (Kylie); nieces and nephews, Ranya, Safiya, Aubri, Hamza, Kenzie, JuJu and Rayen; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gerald M. Sr. and Rose Merritt; and his maternal grandfather, Michael “Pops” Sullivan and his wife, Maureen. Mike had a big heart and always helped and put others before himself. Mike had a kind soul and was loved by so many and will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
