MICHAEL WAYNE ?MIKE? HOLT, 42, husband of Jennifer M. Holt, was taken suddenly and unexpectedly with a heart attack at his home and died Monday, August 1, 2005 at Chippenham Medical Center in Richmond. Born in Fairfax, VA., he was the son of Horace and Ada Lucille Helmick Holt of Woodford, VA.
Mike was a 1981 graduate of T. C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA., and currently a long distance truck driver with Smith Transport. Mike and Jennifer were married for nine years.
Mike was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, and family man. He was friendly and helpful to everyone and he never met a stranger. He had an active and sharp mind, was an avid reader and trivia expert. He loved playing on his video game play station, was a big fan of Tony Stewart of NASCAR racing, and the Washington Nationals baseball team.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two sisters, Pamela Holman of Ruther Glen, VA., and Tina Holt of Woodford, VA; a special cousin who was like a brother, Tony Holt, Sr. of Chantilly, VA; two nephews, Phillip Holman and Sean O?Dett; one niece, Taylor Holman; mother and father-in-law, Bernard Minor, Sr. and Janis V. Minor of Prince George, VA; sister-in-law, April O?Dett and husband, Brian, of Newport News; and brother-in-law, Bernard Minor, Jr., of Hopewell, VA. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Rosa Holt, and special cousin, Tony Holt, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. William E. Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, chapter of your choice.
