MSG Michael Ernest Robbins, U.S. Army (Retired), 77, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Sunday, November 25, 2018. Born in Portland, Maine, he was the eldest of three sons of the late Durward and Leontine St. Germaine Robbins. MSG Robbins retired after 23 years of proud service, including a tour of duty in Vietnam and stations in Ethiopia and Germany. Following his active duty career, he continued working in civil service at MCAS Cherry Point, Havelock, NC until retirement. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be fondly remembered as a loving, caring, and generous man. Working with his father building houses early in life he developed a fondness for woodworking and took great pleasure building projects for family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Angelina Elsa Robbins, whom he adored; son, Efrem Robbins (Wesen) of Auburn, AL; daughters, Yourdonus James (Orlando) of Chesterfield, VA, Aida Robbins of Bradenton, FL, and Sonya Fini (Domenick) of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Shelton Tate, Michael Robbins, Mona Robbins, Jasmine James, Orlando James II, Rachel Fini, Natalie Fini, and Domenick Fini, Jr.; brothers, Richard (Sigrid) of Portland, ME and William (Carol) of Niagra Falls, NY; brother-in-law, Berhe Woldu (Woini); and special nephews and niece, Amanuel Kahsai, Semarit Kahsai, Sisay Kebebew, Bereket Kahsai. He also leaves behind his faithful friend and protector, Dolce, his Pomeranian. The viewing will take place Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Noon followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Chesterfield Chapel, 3050 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA.
