Michael Dean West

Dr. Michael Dean West, 68, of Chester, VA, passed away on February 13, 2024. He was born in Lockwood, TN, and raised in Kingston, TN. He was the son of the late Evelyn Kay Paine and Jack D. West. He was an incredible, devoted husband to the late Deborah Dabbs West of 30 years, before her passing in 2007. He was a devout family man and devoted much of his time to his church, Three Chopt Church of Christ. He received his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Tennessee, went on to get his Master's from the University of New Orleans, and earned his PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University in Special Education and Teaching. He went on to work at VCU for over 30 years as a Senior Research Assistant. Throughout his life and before passing, he worked as an independent consultant to numerous private and public organizations related to Veterans and Disability Services, program evaluation, and grant writing. He loved making people laugh and loved being with his friends and family. He leaves behind his adoring daughter, Sarah A. West; as well as his cherished grand-daughter, Audrey M. West. He also leaves behind a brother, Ron West; sister-in-law, Deborah Moates West; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy goes beyond a few paragraphs and the impact he has had could never be forgotten. He was god-fearing, a dedicated mentor, incredibly wise, and his mark on this world will last an eternity.
