Mila Charlotte Campen

Mila Charlotte Campen, 94, departed this life, Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was born, December 13, 1922, in Chatham Hill, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Campen; parents, Allie Crawford and Carrie Strouth; siblings, Allie Mae Hartford and Delvene Altman. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, six children, Barbara Deans (Norfolk, VA), James Campen (Hopewell, VA), Carolyn Head (Front Royal, VA), Roberta Dunworth (Hopewell, VA), Eleanor Hartsell (Prince George, VA), and Robert Campen (Hopewell, VA); as well as seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; twenty-four great-great grandchildren; siblings, Thelma Beilsmith and Raymond Beckner; as well as many friends. She worked for Roses Department Store for 49 years, where everyone called her “grandma”. She retired December 13, 2016. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the funeral home.
