Mildred B. "Millie" Choinski

Mildred B. “Millie” (Brannan) Choinski, 79, died peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017. She was born on May 2, 1938 in Hopewell, VA. She is the daughter of the late Grover C. Brannan and Hilda M. (Curtis) Brannan. Millie is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 54 years, Edward J. Choinski of Wayland; beloved mother of Burton E. Choinski of Bellingham; Sonya E. Choinski of Hudson and Matthew Brannan-Choinski of Lunenburg; sisters, Hazel Kirksey of Hopewell, VA., Linda Newman of Prince George, VA and the late Shirley Brannan and Grover C. Brannan, Jr., Millie is also survived by 5 grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews. She also leaves behind her friends of 50 years, Ted and Kay Daniels, Tom and Janice Conlin, Bill and Cathy O’Toole and Linda Bradley. Millie has been a resident of Wayland for the past 50 years and spent her formative years in Hopewell, VA. She received her BS in Education from Radford University in Radford, VA and taught high school English in Hopewell before moving to Wayland. For many years prior to her retirement, she was the Trade Show Manager for Netscout Systems in Westford travelling throughout Europe and the United States setting up trade shows. While in college, Millie was a sorority sister in Alpha Sigma Tau and secretary of the German Club. She was an avid bridge player, loved gardening and, in her earlier years, enjoyed playing tennis. She loved spending time in the Outer Banks area, especially Nag’s Head, in North Carolina where she and Ed spent their 50th wedding anniversary. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church, 510 W. Poythress St. Hopewell, VA., with interment to follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Flowers are welcome as well as memorial Contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143 in her name.
