Mildred Louise Dear

Mildred Louise Dear, 91, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Mrs. Dear is preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Layne and Olive W. Layne; her brother, Robert E. Layne, Jr.; and sister, Elsie Bogesse; and by her husband of 58 years, Bernard L. Dear, Sr. Mildred was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Gloria Staples (Alan), Bruce Dear (Toni), Bernard Dear, Jr. (Debi), Bonnie Roane (David), and Barbara Blankenship; special granddaughter, Melissa Dear; great-granddaughter, Victoria Dear; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Western Heights Baptist Church.
