Mildred Pennington

Mildred S. Pennington, long resident of Chester, VA went home on January 12, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Sara B. Sheppard; husband, Hager D. Pennington; son, Stephen L. Pennington; sister, Thelma Lee and brothers, Wilbur F. and William F. Sheppard. Mildred was always a caregiver. She took nurses training in Petersburg Hospital and cared for children in her home as well as for her husband and mother. Her last years were at Dunlop Assisting Living where she received loving and professional care from the staff. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Janice P. Nuckols and husband, Chris; son, Ronald B. Pennington and wife, Elaine; Daughter-in-law, Kathy Pennington; brother, Floyd Sheppard and wife, Mickey; sisters, Doris Dudley and husband, Bill and Elizabeth Evans; grandchildren, Scott Whirley and wife, Jeni, Shane, Justin, Wendy and Stephen Pennington and wife Liz; great-grandchildren, Tyler Braxton and Athena Pennington and many devoted nieces and friends. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 pm on Monday, January 15th. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
