Mildred Myrick Smith

Mildred Myrick Smith passed away on January, 21, 2017. She was born on September 23, 1923 in Petersburg, VA to John Eugene and Thelma Westmoreland Myrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Augustus Smith; and her great-granddaughter, Rachael Bocock. She was a member of West End Baptist Church since 1950, a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and also her friends at the Petersburg Home for Ladies where she resided for her last years. She is survived by a son, James Edward Smith (Karen); three daughters, Patsy S. Leighton (Roger), Carole S. McCall (John), and Susan S. Compton (Paul); her grandchildren, Debra S. George, Christopher Compton, Beth Compton Matthews, and Robin C. McCall; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the staff of the Petersburg Home for Ladies for the love and care of our mother and their support of our family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
