Mildred Snead

On Wednesday, September 16, 2009, God received the soul of Mildred Almer â??Luliâ? Poland Snead. Mildred was born on October 9, 1924 to Ernest Benjamin Poland and Lydia McKay Sheffield Poland. She was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Curtis Gray Snead, along with four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Ann Snead Saul and husband, Stuart of Chesapeake and Donna Leigh Snead Hawkins and husband, Barry of Chester; grandchildren, Mary-Catherine Hawkins Sheridan and husband, David of New Castle, PA and Brandon Leigh Hawkins of Norfolk; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Jade Jones and Curtis Leon Sheridan both of New Castle, PA; brother-in-law, John D. Rochelle of Colonial Heights, VA; and many nieces and nephews; along with special friends whose friendship has been deeply appreciated throughout the years. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel E. Hale, D. Min., Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday. Mildredâ??s family wishes to thank all the special people who provided her with the loving care she needed during her illness; the staff at the Hopewell Health Care Center in particular; and Crater Community Hospice.
