Milford Caldwell (Mel) Davis, of Hopewell, VA, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, October 29, 2022. He passed away in his home, after a brief illness. Mel was born on January 6, 1940, in Oneida, TN, to the late Earl and Gladys Connor Davis. He was preceded in death by his five brothers, Kenneth, Harold, Buddy, Charles, and Bill; one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Davis; and one great-grandson, Benjamin James Natoli. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 61 years, Beverley Goad Davis; son, Jerry Davis and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Amanda King and husband, Tim, Ashley Natoli and husband, Alexander, Adam Davis and wife, Sherry; great-grandchildren, Isaac King, Emmalynn King, Julia Davis, Audrey Davis, and Connor Natoli; sister, Alma Jean Watson; sister-in-law, Opal Davis; and brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Ray and Dora Fancher; special niece, Sheilah Watson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked in Civil Service at Fort Lee, VA, as an accounting technician, and retired with 27 years of service in 1992. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Hopewell, VA, where he was proud to call his son his pastor. Known as "Paw" to his family, he is remembered as the "life of the party," always doing silly things and making everyone laugh. Mel enjoyed arranging flowers and put together hundreds of floral arrangements, over the years, for family and friends. Mel also loved the beach and enjoyed collecting lighthouses. Mel had many other interests, including photography, taking care of his yard, crocheting, singing, his dogs, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who know and love him. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm, at Broadway Baptist Church, 301 N 15th Ave, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 2pm, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the church, with interment to follow, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be registered at
