Milton Lee Emory, 79, of Chesterfield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Born and raised in Prince George, VA, he was the son of the late Bernard Emory, Sr. and Margaret Emory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Jean Lane Emory; daughters, Lauree (Dan) and Kelly (Colin); son, Cody; three grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, and Marleigh; sisters, Margaret and Rosa Mae; and brother, John.
After enlisting in the Army and serving in Vietnam at a young age, he was honorably discharged and pursued a civil service career at Fort Lee, VA. He loved to serve and in addition to his full time Government position, he joined the Colonial Heights Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer. He was an extremely hard worker that never turned down an opportunity to help someone. After 39 years of civil service, he retired but wasn't done working. He went on to work as a consultant out of Alexandria, VA, frequently traveling to military bases around the country assisting with software integration. When he had down time, he was often found heading over to a neighbor or co-worker's house to assist with household repairs. He could fix and build just about anything! He was delighted when his wife, Jean, agreed to move back out to the country in the summer of 2019. He was finally ready to appreciate the slower paced lifestyle of being completely retired. He enjoyed being at home with his family and dog, Brody, as well as visiting the local restaurants with Jean, where he would certainly see someone he knew.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
