Milton Ende

Dr. Milton Ende, 88, of Petersburg died Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He was born in New York City the son of the late Abraham S. and Elsie Ende. Dr. Ende was a lifelong resident of Petersburg. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond and went on to complete medical school at the Medical College of Virginia. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dr. Ende practiced Internal Medicine in Petersburg for over 50 years. During that time he established the first hemodialysis unit in the area and was instrumental in bringing advanced cardiac life support to the rescue squads in the Tri-Cities Area. Dr. Ende was the first physician to utilize umbilical cord blood to obtain a bone marrow transplant. He was predeceased by his wife Helen Magid Ende and is survived by his two sons Dr. Frederick Ivan Ende and wife Ellen, and Dr. Mark Ende and wife Dr. Elizabeth Dawson; four grandchildren Rebecca, Scott, Ned and Logan Ende; and one brother Dr. Norman Ende. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 1st at 4:30 PM at Brith Achim Cemetery with Rabbi Dennis Beck-Berman officiating.
