Minnie Sizemore Sheppard

Minnie "Mickey" Sizemore Sheppard, 85, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Born in Fleming, KY, she was the daughter of the late A.D. Sizemore and Emma Stallard Sizemore. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Floyd Sheppard; and siblings, Charles Sizemore and Rita Riddle.
Mickey graduated in 1987 from Richard Bland College with an AA in English literature. In her early years, Minnie was employed with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. She enjoyed being active in her children's and grandchildren's life, serving as a leader in their 4-H Club and always attending their sports and after school activities. She volunteered with the Literacy Guild Project Plus, teaching adults to read. She also volunteered her time at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 851. She had a strong passion for reading and especially loved Shakespeare. Most of all, she loved her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Perkinson (Mike) and Leslie Peters (John); grandchildren, Joshua Perkinson, Sarah Kaspar, Michael Jones (Kayla), and Amanda Dunaway (Marcus); great-grandchildren, Gabriel McCray, Jonah Kaspar, Liam Kaspar, Emmaleigh Kaspar, and Timothy Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
