Minnie Whitley

Minnie Brown Holmes Whitley, age 94 of Chester, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Lucy Corr Village, Chesterfield, Virginia. She was born February 3, 1917 in Mt. Olive, NC, the second child of 10 to Major and Betty Holmes. She moved to Petersburg in 1948. She worked at Arnetteâ??s, Colonial Heights Truck Stop and TJâ??s restaurants in Colonial Heights. Minnie is survived by her loving daughter, Grace Nottingham and husband, Coleman of Richmond; grandchildren, Wendy C. Smith, Bruce E. Crocker and wife Brenda S., Brenda C. Kirkland and husband Lewis; great-grandchildren, Matt Crocker and wife Katie, Kirk and Michael Kirkland; sisters, (Loccie) Ruth Turner of Mt. Olive, NC and Audrey (Sissy) Cheek of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18th from 6 to 7 pm at the Chester chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son with funeral services to follow at 7 pm. Interment will be privately held in Mt. Olive, NC.
