Mona Janeen Peters

Mona Janeen Peters, of Prince George, VA, passed away May 4, 2022. Born and raised in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Whetzel and Mildred "Sue" Hocker; and stepmother, Jackie Whetzel. She was also preceded in death by her late brothers Ralph Whetzel and Larry Bowles.
She is survived by her husband of over half a century, Eugene Madison Peters; sons, Chris (Heather) and Nick (Tiffaney); grandchildren, Austin, Camden, Riley, Addison, Kendall, Carson, James, Ava, Caleb, and Colin; brother, Richard "Bubby" Bowles; sisters, Wanda Lynch, Beverly Jeffries, and Gale "Sissy" Richmond; sisters-in-law, Linda Underwood and Patsy Burns; brother-in-law, Troy Peters. Beloved friends of Lynn Green, Pat Carter, and Carol Anne Angle. Mona also leaves behind many dear friends, nieces, and nephews. A special thank you to the nurses and caregivers, Linda Smith, Laura Fernandez, Ericka Robinson, and Carol Anne Angle who assisted both Gene and Mona during her last days.
Mona's compassion, light and love affected many lives. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She made the world a better place. We are comforted to know she is now with her family and friends she has long missed. Viewing will be conducted on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 1 pm - 3 pm, at the Hopewell J.T.
