Mrs. Monika Cunningham, born on September 20, 1958, in Zweibrücken, Germany, peacefully passed away on November 3, 2023. She was the daughter of Rudolf and Herta Veit, who have preceded her in death. Monika was a cherished sister to Ingrid, Wolfgang, Gudrun, and Heike, and held a special place in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews.
She dedicated over 10 years of her life working for the US Army in her hometown, where she met her husband, Alexander Cunningham. Monika was a devoted wife and mother, pouring her heart and soul into her family. Over the years, she also worked part-time, tenderly caring for the elderly, which was a labor of love for her.
She shared 35 years of marriage with her husband, Alexander Cunningham. Monika was a nurturing mother to three loving daughters, Vanessa Smalls (Aubrey), Shamona Marshall (Joseph), and Janice Hall (Jeremy). She loved being a grandmother and her heart overflowed with joy being able to experience the gift of her nine grandchildren, Makaiya, Lilian, McKenzie, Monroe, Zyana, Yosuah, Yelena, Remi, and Sebastian.
Monika's genuine love, infectious laughter, and graceful spirit touched many. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, including walking her dog (Frankie), reading, knitting, and serving others.
Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ served as a guiding light throughout her life and gave her peace when she was called home. Her selflessness, love, and dedication were evident in every role she embraced - a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Monika Cunningham's legacy of love, warmth, and compassion will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she has left this earthly realm, her memory will forever remain a cherished treasure in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family will be having a memorial service at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 2 pm.
