It is with pain in our hearts and thankfulness to God that we share the news that our beloved Monté Holloway has gained her wings and gone home to be with her Lord and Savior. “Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not.”
Monté was born in Petersburg, VA on February 28, 1955. She departed this life on August 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Edward Lyndhurst, Bracy, Jr. and Joyce Ann Parrish Bracy. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John T. Holloway, Jr. She is also survived by her siblings, Marcia Bracy, Linda Miller (Joseph), Melanie Scruton (Wayne), Edward L Bracy III “Duke” (Dorothy); and nieces and nephews, Joseph and Melissa Benedict, and Wade and Mackenzie Scruton; cousins, Edgar, Cathy, Rose Marie and Claire. She is also survived by numerous friends that she loved as family.
Monté went to East Carolina University and graduated from Mary Baldwin University in Staunton. She was Summa Cum Laude. She was a dedicated employee at the Progress Index and later Optima Health as their marketing director.
Monté cherished the time spent with her beloved husband, her family and her friends. She was the glue that held our family together. She loved traveling, the beaches and the river.
Monté was a woman who loved and served her Lord and Savior, her family, and friends with passion and love. She loved strongly, and she lived to make life better for others. She was a devoted member of the Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Her servant’s heart and life showed her love for others. “She was a connector, friend, encourager, knowing how to love and serve others in just the right way.”
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Swift Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Monté’s honor.
