Murry Woodrow Kitchens, 88, of Hopewell, Virginia died Monday, February 12, 2007 at his home at Brighter Living. The Cool Springs, Kentucky native retired as a Master Sergeant from the U. S. Army. He served in World War II from North Africa to Italy. He received the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Award. He also retired from the Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, Department of Health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Thomas and Louisiana Fulton Kitchens, five brothers and sisters(Mary, Audrey, Ida, Georgia, Will, Ben, Paul, Robert, Ollie, and Johnny) survivors include three sons, Donald M. Kitchens (Susan)of Prince George, Virginia Dennis Lee Kitchens (Roxie), of Rineyville, Kentucky and Dwight Carson Kitchens , of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; a daughter, Joyce A. Gregory of Bowling Green, KY., seven grandchildren, Amanda, Madeline, April, Matthew, Katherine, Jonathan and Teresa and three great-grandchildren, Talee, Alex and Allie. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County.
