Myrna Annette Powell, 76, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and formerly of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Clear Fork, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Omer Ray Freeman and Ruby Tilley Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Gay Frazier and Dennis Freeman.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, John Powell, Sr.; son, John Powell, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia Shaver; grandchildren, Ashley Shaver, Nicholas Shaver, and Heather Cooper; brother-in-law, Harold Frazier; sister-in-laws, Judy Powell and Janice Freeman and numerous other extended family and friends.
Myrna Powell worked in Civil Service, retiring after 33 years of service in EEO. She was a devoted Christian who enjoyed being active in her church teaching Sunday school, working VBS, and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, bird watching, traveling, painting, playing cards, spending time with friends, watching game/trivia shows, and reading her bible.
Myrna’s main focus in life was loving her husband, supporting, directing and being a role model to her family.
She touched the lives of many throughout her walk of life and will be dearly missed!
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
