Myrtle Cain Meikle

January 16, 1921 — August 8, 2018

Myrtle Cain Meikle, 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at her home in Carson, Virginia. She was born to Lizzie Magee and Merton T. Cain on January 16, 1921 in Prince George County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lloyd W. Glass; her husband, Lawrence David Meikle; her step-son, John Dornan Meikle; her sister, Lois Cain White; her beloved son-in-law, Robert W. Anderson; and her son-in-love, Gary A. Wade. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Meikle Anderson and Jewel Glass Mobley, and son-in-law, Joel N. Mobley. She was Nana to four grandchildren, Robyn Anderson Matthews (Ricky), David N. Mobley (Jennifer), Mark L. Mobley (Jennifer), and Brian J. Mobley (Becky); four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Andrew, Brandon and Quinn Robert Mobley, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful feline companions, George and Jake. Carson was her lifetime home where she was loved by her many friends and adored by her family, who were blessed to share her long life. She graduated Salutatorian from Carson High School and later worked at the school in the cafeteria and as a special aide for the hearing impaired, and was always a devoted homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Salem United Methodist Church. The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Nafa, Laura, Mabel, Evinda, Virginia, Marietta, and Gloreen, who have taken loving care of her for the past two years. Special appreciation also to the staff of New Century Hospice of Emporia and Pastor Michael Baugham. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
