Nadine Wolfe Mitchem

Nadine W. Mitchem, 75, of Colonial Heights formerly of Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. Nadine was born and raised in Havaco, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and David Wolfe; brothers, Leonard and Dave Wolfe; and her sister, Patricia W. Hios. She worked for 34 years alongside her sister Ethel as a waitress for the Pleasure Island Seafood Restaurant, and spent the last 9 years working as her granddaughter Sarah’s medical attendant. She was a member of the Enon Church of God where she worked for many years with the young girls known as JoyBelles and later as the hospitality coordinator. She enjoyed spending time with her family at the river, working in her flower gardens and painting. She was an avid bird watcher and loved watching them feed from several bird feeders outside her windows. Nadine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dennie “Junior” Mitchem; daughter, Crystal Jeffreys (Robert); son, Robert Mitchem (Bridget); grandchildren, Sarah, Bobby, Mahala, Keri, and Alexandra; sisters, Ethel Riddle and Claudine Squares; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Enon Church of God 900 Enon Church Rd. Chester, VA 23836. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Enon Church of God Children’s Ministry.
