Nancy Batten

Nancy Louise Batten, 70, of Hopewell died Saturday, August 16, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Mattie Lee Sykes. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Floria Wilson and Lois F. Sykes. She is survived by her husband William Eugene Batten; daughter, Wanda Batten; son, Russell Batten, Sr. and wife Donna; four grandchildren, Bobby Parker III and wife Melissa, Jennifer Rhodes and husband Charles, Russell Batten Jr. and Carol Batten; two sisters, Effie Ayscue and Gloria L. Lemois; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the chapel. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell.
