Nancy Tweedy Cook

Nancy Sue Tweedy Cook, 81, of Prince George, VA passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Tazewell, VA she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mabel Tweedy; and was also preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Tweedy. Mrs. Cook retired from the Virginia State Police after 21 years of service. She was a member of River’s Edge Bible Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading. Mrs. Cook is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Franklin Cook; one son, Scott Cook and wife, Paula; two daughters, Laura Stanley and husband, Darrell and Wendy Miller and husband, Glen; six grandchildren, John Cook, Aaron Cook, Rachel Stanley, Luke Stanley, Austin Miller and Gage Miller; two great-grandsons, Sebastian and Aiden; three sisters, Joyce King, Dana Stewart and Shirley Wray; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at River’s Edge Bible Church with the Rev. Wayne Good, officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia State Police Emergency Relief Fund by making checks payable to the “VSPA-ERF” with a notation in the memo line of the check “Nancy Cook” and mailed to the VSPA Office, 6944 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, VA 23225.
