Nancy Burney McCants

Nancy Burney McCants, 89, of Hampton, Virginia passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025.

She was born in Hopewell, Virginia, and attended Hopewell High School. In 1953, she married Aubrey Morris McCants, of Petersburg, Virginia, and became a military spouse. Military travel took her to Georgia, Germany, and Guam, where she made many lifetime friends. Nancy and Aubrey moved to Hampton, Virginia, in 1963 where they celebrated their 64th anniversary in 2017. Nancy worked for many local accounting firms and was active in the Hampton Cub Scout Program as well as a supporter of Phillips Athletic Association youth sports.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Morris McCants; son, Douglas Morris McCants; parents, Neill Jefferson Burney and Martha Rosa Wyche Burney; sisters, Alvah Wagner and Sue Burney; and brothers, Thomas Burney, N.J. Burney and Hal Burney. She is survived by her son, Gregory McCants; granddaughters, Michelle Adams (Brian) and Erin Ramirez (Marc); and great-granddaughter, Luna.

A service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave. Hampton, VA 23666.
