NANCY L. McNULTY died December 19, 2017 at her home on Lake Chesdin. She was surrounded by family and love. Nancy was married to Martin Patrick McNulty for 58 years. She is survived by her three daughters and one son as well as nine grandchildren whom she adored. Nancy was born in Belmont, MA as the younger of two daughters. She graduated from Boston University in 1954 with a B.A. degree in Education and later earned a teaching certificate as well. While in college, she met the love of her life, Martin, at the Neuman Center. They married after her graduation and quickly moved to Hahn, Germany where her husband was stationed as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. The couple traveled widely over the next 58 years and lived in many places, including Germany, South Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Maryland and Virginia. Despite moving often, Nancy created a loving, nurturing home for her four children and husband. Upon Martin’s retirement from the Air Force, she became an administrator in a medical unit within a jail in Prince Georges County, Maryland, where she worked for 14 years. She was considered the most efficient administrator in the system and won many awards for her work. Eventually, Nancy and Martin moved to their home on Lake Chesdin and spent time volunteering, traveling and spending time with their extended family. Nancy adored her nine grandchildren and was a loving influence in their lives. After her final retirement, Nancy contributed to her community in many ways including singing as part of a volunteer service chorus, being a ‘buddy reader’ at Matoaca Elementary School, and helping at St. Augustine’s in the food pantry and as a Eucharistic Minister for homebound seniors. She was a devoted member of the Women’s Bible study group at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. In addition, she was an active volunteer for the Crater Community Hospice organization. If you would like to honor her memory, the family asks that you consider making a memorial contribution to the Crater Community Hospice organization (3916 South Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA, 23805). Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg and she will eventually be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Martin in Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
