Nancy Phelps Mendoza

Nancy Phelps Mendoza, 87, of Chester, VA passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Born in Petersburg, VA she was the daughter of the late Zollie Jordan and Lucy Fisher Phelps; and was also preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Layfield; and her brother-in-law, Cyril Layfield. Mrs. Mendoza had attended Longwood University and had retired from Ken Fritz Tooling and Design as their secretary and bookkeeper after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Mendoza had also worked from Winston Construction. She was a cheerleading coach in Chesterfield and had served as the Commissioner of Cheerleading in Chesterfield County. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her daughter, Susie Mincey and husband, Paul; and three grandsons, Jack, Luke and Levi. All services will be private.
