Nancy E. Parady, 73, of Chester, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Viola Parady; and was also preceded in death by her son, Frank Ascoli. She is survived by her brother, Harry Parady of Portland, Maine; one sister, Brenda Dow of Milford, Connecticut; her son, Paul Ascoli and wife, Jennifer, one daughter, Ellen Pashiardis and husband, Haris; and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Georgiana, Andrew, Anna, Andreas, Joseph and Katerina. Ms. Parady is the former wife to the late Dr. Joseph Ascoli. She graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School in Lewiston, Maine. She was a registered nurse for over forty years and provided health care in Maine, New York, and Virginia. She retired from MCV hospital in 2003, after twenty years of service. Nancy enjoyed working as a nurse. She was highly respected for her nursing expertise and compassionate care of so many people. She loved to travel and loved her home, where she enjoyed reading her many books. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time at her home with her family and friends. She loved her seven grandchildren and enjoyed reading books, watching movies and going out to eat with them during their many visits. She truly loved life. She will be deeply missed and remembered as a caring, kind person, as a skilled nurse, and as a loving mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
