At 12:18 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, God called home one of his children, Nancy U. Talley, 68, of Dinwiddie, who died while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of Logan C. â??Bumpyâ? Underwood, Sr. and the late Oma Millicent Purdy Underwood. Nancy was affectionately known as â??Dandyâ? to her loving family and many friends. She was a devoted member of Ocran United Methodist Church where she was a former Chairman of the Communion Stewards, an active participant in Bible School, and a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond E. Talley, Sr.; son, Raymond E. Talley, Jr. and wife, Starr of Powhatan; daughters, Angie Costley and husband, Brett and Laura Hancock and husband, Dallas both of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Ryan G. Taylor and wife, Amy, Whitney Schley and boyfriend, Shawn Vattelana, Amber Dillon, Aaron Talley, Ryan Marks, Daniel Costley and Shannon Costley; great-grandchild, Raymond Gene Taylor; sister, Lisa Fee and husband, Jerry of McKenney; brother, Logan â??Bubbaâ? Underwood, Jr. and wife, Pam of Dinwiddie; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 21, at Ocran United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at the church with The Rev. Gene C. Tatum, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ocran UMC Memorial Fund, 20807 Cox Road, Sutherland, VA 23885.
