Nannie Mae Braziel Williams passed from this life, surrounded by her family into the arms of Jesus in Dinwiddie, VA on March 3, 2012. She was born on March 27, 1929 in Nash Co. N.C. the fourth child of the late Joe Percy Braziel and Mary Lena Cockrell Braziel. Nan was raised in Nash Co. and lived there until she met her husband Roger A. Williams. They settled in Raleigh N.C. area, and started their family. In the summer of 1962, Nan and her family moved to McKenney, VA, where she lived until 2006. Nan relocated to the Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center due to declining health. Nan was a member of Cut Banks Baptist Church in McKenney. Besides her parents, Nan was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2003; both of her brothers, Mac and Marshall Braziel; and her youngest sister, Cleo Daniels. Nan is survived by her two sons, Rod Williams and companion, Robin Taylor of Rocky Mount, N.C., Ted Williams and wife, Diane of Carson; two grandsons, Chris Williams and companion, Sandra Decarli of Greenville, N.C., Jeremy Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; oldest sister, Ruby Tunnell of Nashville, N.C., and her beloved twin sister, Mary Rose Tunnell and companion, Aaron Bowen of McKenney, VA. Nan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Asbury Cemetery in McKenney, VA with Pastor Stan Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cut Banks Baptist Church, 24203 Cutbank Rd., McKenney, VA 23872.
