Nelson Daniel

Nelson William Daniel, age 86, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Wednesday, February 02, 2011.
He was born in Oxford, NC, the son of the late Albert W. and Nellie Nelson Daniel, and was also preceded by his brothers, Edward and Ralph Daniel, and grandchild, Lindsey Danielle Blanchard. Mr. Daniel was a charter member, past Sunday school teacher and Deacon Emeritus, and devoted much of his life to the Powers Memorial Baptist Church, Hopewell. He worked for 30 plus years for Allied Chemical before retiring as a crane operator. Mr. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Myrtie Woodlief Daniel; sons, Nelson Wayne Daniel (Vivian) of Prince George, VA and Alton Curtis Daniel (Bonnie) of Chester, VA; daughter, Susan Daniel Blanchard (Mickey) of Hopewell, VA; grandchildren, Wendy Daniel Herrera (Francisco) of Prince George, Kelly Daniel Cusato (Steve) of New York, NY, Alan Daniel (Laura) of Locust Grove, VA, and Lauren Blanchard Messner (Morgan) of Prince George, VA; six great grandchildren; and a brother, James Robert Daniel of Oxford, NC. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Friday, at 11 a.m. in the Powers Memorial Baptist Church, Hopewell.
