Nelson Thomas Marshall Sr.

Nelson (Tommy) Marshall Sr, 84, of Hopewell passed away on October 22, 2013. He died peacefully in his sleep at Retreat Hospice. He is survived by his four children Nelson Marshall Jr. (Carol), Robert Marshall (Mindy), Darlene Anthony (Oscar) and Tamara Crawford. He has twelve grandchildren, Adam Marshall (Laura), Brian Marshall (Amy), Sean Marshall (Sarah), Christopher Marshall, Nick Marshall, Drew Marshall (Brittaney), Allison Marshall, Jessi Kocher (Brandon), Jodie Anthony, Evan Anthony, Kennis Crawford and Grayson Crawford; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Katelyn and Brody Marshall and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is survived by one sister, Nancy Rice of Hopewell. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Audrey Houston Marshall and three brothers, Charles, Robert and James Marshall. Tommy proudly served our country in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Mitscher. He then worked for 38 Years for Dupont Spruance where he retired. He was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Enon Baptist Church and formerly a member of Kingsland Baptist Church. He loved God, his family, his country, his many friends and over the years got much enjoyment from golf, fishing, hunting, gardening, coaching youth sports and baseball. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Enon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct 25th at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home at 3500 W Hundred Rd, Chester, Va. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26th at Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N. Enon Church Rd, Chester, Va. Burial immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Va.
