Nelton Jackson Edwards, 81, of Dinwiddie County, died Monday, October 3, 2016 at his residence. Born in Edgecombe County, NC, he was the son of the late Willie Jack and Mamie Mae Reason Edwards. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Edwards. Mr. Edwards retired as a machinist after nearly 30 years with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. A loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his Lord Jesus, he was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Littie Dabney Edwards; children, Connie Thornton (Philip), Tim Edwards (Donna), and Larry Edwards (Wendi); grandchildren, Michael (Heather), Jason (Sherri), Matthew, David (Nancy), Faith (Jody), Charity (James), Seth, Jessica (Lee), and Bryan “B.J.” (Sonny); step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Shae), Ashley (Ricky), Brandon, and Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Connor, Hudson, Charlotte, Judah, Hazel, Randy, Leah, Marielle, and Summer; step-great-grandchildren, Ty, Gabrien, Caleb, Evie Ann, Cody, and Dylan, and a brother, Billy Ray Edwards (Cathy). The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Southlawn Memorial Park.
