Nicholas Daniels, Esquire, 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 26, 2010 at MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Daniels, and mother, Antonina Daniels. He was born October 15, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York and christened in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. He grew up in the Lower East side of Manhattan, in the district known as â??Hellâ??s Kitchen.â? His parents relocated to Petersburg in 1943, where he attended Petersburg High School and played on the football and track teams. He graduated from Petersburg High in 1948 and was briefly a member of the Marine Corp reserves upon graduation. He graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1954, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In 1958 he became an investigator for the Commonwealth of Virginia and an auxiliary police officer for the City of Petersburg. He then attended the University of Richmond where he received his juris doctorate from the T.C. Williams School of Law in 1963. Upon graduating from law school, he opened his own private practice as a trial attorney in Petersburg, where he served as a member of the legal community up until his death. He was a member of numerous organizations, including the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity, the American Trial Lawyerâ??s Association, the American Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyerâ??s Association, the Medical Malpractice Review Board, the Virginia State Bar, and the Petersburg Bar Association, where he had acted in the past as President and Vice-President. He also belonged to Petersburg Lodge #15 A.F. & A.M., the Hopewell Moose Lodge, the N.A.A.C.P., the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the ACCA Temple Shrine, the Prince George Ruritan Club, the Petersburg Democratic Committee, the Petersburg Old Geezerâ??s Organization (POGO), and served as past president of the American Hellenic Education Progressive Association (AHEPA), He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-eight years, Sharon Kay Daniels, daughters Tina Nicole Daniels and Sandra Jean Daniels, and beloved son, Nicholas Peter Daniels. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all dear to his heart. A viewing for family and friends will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Petersburg on Thursday, March 4 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will take place at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church in Hopewell on Friday, March 5 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Jon Emanuelson officiating.
