Mrs. Norma Jean Claussen Whorrall, age 72, a resident of E. Sylvan Lane in Waverly died Tuesday July 18, 2006, at her home. Born on May 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Adolph Claussen and Emmeline Pruyne Claussen. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Donald Arthur Whorrall in 1999. For the past seven years, Norma worked for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Waverly. Before that she had retired a manager of One-Hour Martinizing, Petersburg after 25 years of service. Her hobbies included ceramics, sewing and other crafts. She had sewed clothing and blankets for all her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Jean Carman and her husband James of Springfield WVA and Terry Lynn Kubler and her husband Paul of Elberon; a son, Larry Arthur Whorrall and his wife Cheryl of Waverly; nine grandsons, three granddaughters, nine great granddaughters and one great grandson. She was also survived by five sisters, Opal Hartman of Momence IL, Alice Ross of Hoopeston IL, Marjorie Ekhoff of Grant Park IL, Josephine Boicken of Grant Park IL, and Christine Meyer of Grant Park, IL.; and two brothers, Donald Claussen and Ronald Claussen of Grant Park IL.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday July 22, 2006 in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield by Paula Ropelewski. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 â?? 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Waverly Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 583, Waverly VA 23890.
