Nothera White Goyne

Nothera Goyne, remarkable and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the age of 93. Born in Dallas, TX, raised in Fort Worth, she married Harold T. Goyne, Jr (d. 1989) and moved to Chester, VA, where she raised their family. Her early work with the USO and her long membership with her church, its Woman’s Club and the Chester Garden Club filled in the rare extra time in her days. For the last four years she resided at the Hermitage and continued an active life. She is survived by her three children, Dick Goyne (Kathy), Sharon Jolly (Bruce) and Mark Goyne (Nancy) along with six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many cherished members of her extended family. She was exceptional at keeping in touch with them all. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, from 6-8pm at JT Morriss & Son in Chester with funeral services on Saturday, May 2, at 1:00pm at Chester United Methodist Church followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
