Nydia Luz Renta-Torres

Nydia Luz Renta-Torres, 69, of Chester, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose Raul Renta and Zaida Luz Torres. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugenio Torres and Hortensia Torruella.
She graduated from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico Class of 1975. Over her 39 years as a registered nurse, she spent 27 years in the Veterans Administration and 12 years serving in Puerto Rico. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, snorkeling, and rooting for the Baltimore Ravens. She was also known to be great cook and hostess. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and exceptional friend.
Nydia is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Antonio Colón; daughter, Nydia Enid Collins (Andrew Jr.); sons, Giovanni Colón (Lisa), and Carlos Antonio Colón (Yadira); grandchildren, Anais Knight, Camron Andrew Collins III, Gabriela Colón, Lillian Colón, Julian Colón, and Isabella Colón; and brother, Roberto Estremera (Nilsa Rolón).
A funeral mass will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Alzheimer's Association, alz.org, or your local food bank.
