Oliver Allen Pamplin, 87, of N. Chesterfield, VA passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late Urban Otto Pamplin and Claudia Phillips Pamplin; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Randolph Pamplin; and his step-mother, Sarah Pamplin. Oliver had a love for music and started playing the piano at a young age. He received his undergraduate degree in music from RPI (VCU) and went on to teach music in the Dinwiddie County School System. Dr. Pamplin has also served as the pianist and organist for many churches throughout central Virginia. He went on to receive his masters and doctorate in education from the University of Virginia and served as Administrator of several school systems, with the majority of his career in Albemarle County. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gaynelle Pamplin; three children, Cynthia Williams (Stuart), Sheila Walters (Jim) and Keith Pamplin (Michelle); grandchildren, Hunter, Kourtney, Claudia, William and Grey; one great-grandson, Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Family will receive friends and family following the service. Interment will be private. Per request of the family, funeral attendees are asked to wear mask and practice social distancing.
