Olivia Akins King Brockwell died January 16 at Marsh's Edge, Saint Simons Island, Georgia. She was born July 27, 1926 in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Floyd Lee and Hester Nunnally Akins. She resided in Petersburg until 2011 when she relocated to Saint Simons Island. Olivia was predeceased by: her husbands, Joseph Jackson "Jack" King, and Donald Albert Brockwell; a sister, Audra Akins; brothers, Vernon Lee Akins, and Thomas Woodrow Akins; long time companion, Ralph Albright.
She is survived by her children, Jo King McGuire (Robert) of Saint Simons Island, Ga., Joseph Jackson King, Jr. (Joanie) of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, Cynthia King Dennis (Mark) of Tampa, Florida, and Robin Keith King (Suzanna) of Richmond; grandchildren, Ann McGuire Lerch (Todd) of Savannah, Georgia, Scott Austin McGuire of Atlanta, Georgia, Olivia Moore Dennis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Jackson Taylor Dennis of Tampa, Florida, Jaime King Pagano (Pete) of Morehead City, North Carolina, Nicholas Jackson King of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, Aubrey Scott King and Peyton Hamlin King of Richmond, Virginia; great-grandchildren Olivia Harlan Lerch, Jackson Todd Lerch, and Crawford Thompson Lerch of Savannah, Georgia; Ella Bay Pagano of Morehead City, North Carolina; brother, Floyd Lee Akins, Jr. (Margaret) of Colonial Heights; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home followed by a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Blandford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, Brunswick, Georgia or Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
