Orpha Marie Sandberg, 90, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009, at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell, VA.
She was born September 13, 1918, in Cherryvale, KS, to Rev. Vernon Franklin Colinger and Mattie Olive Pilkington Cloninger.
She was united in marriage August 27, 1939, in Bartlesville, OK, to Rudolph Roy Sandberg. She lived most of her adult life in Chanute, KS, and in 2000 moved to Spring Grove, VA.
Her husband of 38 years; her father and mother; two brothers, Alonzo, and Lawrence Cloninger; and a granddaughter, Kathryn Bailey Claiborne, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Sandberg (Lynn Ann) of Lamar, MO; a daughter, Marcia Bailey (James Richard "Dick") of Spring Grove, VA; two grandsons, Brent Sandberg (Whitney) of Highland, IL, and John Bailey (Akari) of Statesville, NC; two granddaughters, Michelle Castle (Robert) and Angela O'Rawe (John), both of Spring Grove; ten great-grandchildren, Sarah Cardman (Joshua), Samuel Castle, David O'Rawe, Michael Claiborne, Rachael Claiborne, Maya Hubbs, Isabelle Sandberg, Isaac Sandberg, Leo Bailey, and Emmie Bailey.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Chanute, KS.
