Oscar Waldemar Kummerlowe, 83 of Dinwiddie County formerly of Richmond passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2004. He is survived by Doris his devoted wife of 56 years; sons, Oscar III, Ronald, Daniel and wife Cyndi; daughters, Judith Rotz and husband Gregory, Laurel Tharrington and husband Mark, Christine Tharrington and husband Dean and daughter-in-law Cindy Kummerlowe. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen John. Also surviving are his grandchildren Jordan, Hayden and Grayson Tharrington, Trevor Tharrington, Christine Rotz, Benjamin Kummerlowe and Adam and Elizabeth Turman, Megan and Brian Kummerlowe, Ashley and Stephen Kummerlowe, Austin Kummerlowe and Ashley Hawkins; sister, Louise Paule; brothers, Kenneth Kummerlowe and Richard Kummerlowe; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a 1944 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. During World War II he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and an associate member of Concord United Methodist Church. He lived life to the fullest and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, January 30 at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Jacobs Stone Church Cemetery, Brodbecks, PA. on Saturday, January 31 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Concord United Methodist Church, Stony Creek, VA or to the Dinwiddie Rescue Squad.
