Oscar Woodrow Parham, 92, of Chester, formerly of Petersburg, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Charles Albert and Alma Vaughan Parham. Mr. Parham was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He was a charter member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, a member of Saints & Sinners, a member of the Petersburg Lions Club and a former Petersburg Cosmopolitan. Mr. Parham was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Tucker Parham. He is survived by his wife, Patricia T. Parham; son, Robert Gerald â??Jerryâ? Parham and wife, Carolyn D. Parham of Chesterfield; daughter, Nancy Parham Eades and husband, Jerry A. Eades of Greensboro, NC; grandsons, J. Allan Eades, Jr., Ryan T. Eades, Robert G. Parham, Jr., and C. Daniel Parham; six great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter; brother, Preston Parham of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Vivian Martin of Portsmouth, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Queen, Pastor and Rev. Glenn Plott, former Pastor, officiating.
