Oscar James Tomlin

Oscar James Tomlin , 76, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Nettie Tomlin; and five brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Julie J. Tomlin; sons, Michael W. Tomlin, James E. Tomlin, Jesse A. Tomlin and wife Jenna; grandchildren, Julie D. Tomlin, Jordan A. Tomlin and Ezra W. Tomlin; one great grandchild, Carmino J. Chellino; brother, Douglas Tomlin and wife Pat; a special friend, Kenneth Ballowe, and numerous extended family and friends. Mr. Tomlin graduated from Bob Jones University in Greensville, SC; and worked as a school teacher in Hopewell for over 30 years. He was a member of Hopewell City Council for 8 years. Oscar was very proud to have been involved with working on the early restoration of the historic Beacon Theater. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Ave. Hopewell, VA 23860.
