Patricia Sumsky Jones

Patricia "Pat" Sumsky Jones, 86, of Prince George, Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Betty Ferrell. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gerald Lee Jones; and her daughter, Beverly McCallister. She was the President of Merchants Hope gardening club in the 1970s. She volunteered at the Fort Lee Thrift Shop for 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, yard sales, antique shops, estate sales, and admiring beautiful flowers. Pat's most enjoyable times were working at Bygones for 20 years. She loved her "Bygone Girls," especially Maynee Cayton. Patricia is survived by a daughter, Beckie Jones Suyes; a son, Bart Jones; five grandchildren, Jennifer Moogalian Fisher, Matthew Langford, Melanie Browning (Heath), Gerald Placensia, and Montana McCallister (Jamie); four great-grandchildren, Angelina Langford, Ethan Browning, Evelyn Browning, and Eleanor Browning; two sisters, Michele Updike (Kenny) and Diane Sumsky; nephews, Garland Updike and Ken Updike; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Prince George Presbyterian Church Cemetery, to commemorate Patricia and Gerald's 67th wedding anniversary. This service will also honor Patricia and Gerald's beloved daughter Beverly as well. We would like to thank Crater Community Hospice for their comfort and compassionate care, especially Teresa Riggs, Karren Bevan, and Tracee McKensie.
