Patricia Hughes Pugh

Patricia Hughes Pugh, beloved wife of Elbert Lloyd Pugh, Jr., died on July 30, 2014 at John Randolph Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on January 25, 1938 in Petersburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William Thomas Hughes, Jr. and Rachel Barricks Hughes. Pat as she was called, is survived by her husband of 57 years and daughters, Rhonda Pugh Ostman and husband, Steve, of Hampton, Virginia and Robin Pugh Yoder and husband, Wayne, of Chesterfield County, Virginia. She is also survived by one brother, William Marshall Hughes and wife, Joanne, of Gramballs, Maryland. Her surviving grandchildren are: Kristopher Ryan Demsko, Aaron Blake Demsko, his wife Megan, Shawn Patrick Demsko, Isaac Benjamin Yoder and great-granddaughter, Sadie Alise Demsko. She was predeceased in death by five brothers and one sister: John David Hughes, Henry Mcilwaine Hughes, Edward Nelson Hughes, Gene Thomas Hughes, Donald Craig Hughes and Louise Hughes Childs. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was a 1956 graduate of Petersburg High School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at Friend Sand and Gravel and later as a secretary at Colonial House of Flowers from which she retired. Her love was her family, her church, her grandchildren, working in the yard with her flowers, her greeting card ministry and going to Myrtle Beach. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 235 West Washington Street, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be private for family and relatives.
