Patricia Kathleen Tereschenko, 60, of Sussex County, Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Max and Kathleen Hayes Tereschenko, and two of her brothers, M. Max Tereschenko, Jr. and Samuel Timothy Tereschenko.
She is survived by her brother, Stephen Ashley Tereschenko and his son and family, Michael Wayne Tereschenko and wife, Shannon N. Tereschenko, and their daughters, Haley and Avery Tereschenko. She is also survived by another great-niece, Macy Tereschenko, and great-nephew, Aaron Tereschenko; her sister-in-law who was just like a sister, Gloria A. Tereschenko, and sister-in-law, Debbie C. Tereschenko; and her two best friends for life, Carolyn Faye Garnett of Deltaville, VA, and Veronica Clements of Hopewell, VA. She wants them all to know how much she loved them and appreciated their loving attention to her over the years. She also knew it was especially difficult for them to see her in the end, but they did. With open hearts and loving devotion.
Pat was a former police officer for the City of Hopewell, VA, beginning in 1980, where she was one of the first few female members of that Department. She also served as Legal Assistant to The Hon. Samuel T. Patterson, Jr. from 1986 to 2002. After Judge Patterson, she went to work for PHS, now Corizon, first working under James P. Tinney, III, and Dr. Abraham Teklu. Both of them mentored and befriended Pat more that any “regular bosses.” She then became Corizon Corporate Credentialing Coordinator until 2016. She also worked for a long-term care facility as Business Office Manager from 2016 until 2017. She was a fiercely independent person, and always willing to go the extra mile whether it was in her personal or professional life.
Pat was a devoted and loving person, with strong faith. She loved her family more than anything. Pat was full of life and loved traveling, college football, eating crabs, and anything purple.
A special thanks to Joyce and Queen, with Hospice of Virginia, and Cayla and Linda, with Care Advantage.
