Patrick Michael Rankin, Jr.

Patrick Michael “Mike” Rankin, 68, of Chesterfield, VA departed this life on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Chic” Rankin and Ruby Todd Rankin; and his loving wife of 33 years, Dian Hart Rankin. He is survived by his beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Dana Dickens and Betty and Bruce Hobart; his cherished children, Todd DuVal (Tammy) and Courtney Deal. He was also the adored “Pappy” to his four grandchildren, Taylor, Victoria, Hunter and Charlotte. Born in Staunton, VA he grew up and lived in Chesterfield County. He was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School, and then continued his education at Danville Community College and received a Bachelor’s of Science and Biology from VCU. Mike worked for Philip Morris USA for 33 years, retiring in management from the Park 500 location. An avid outdoorsman, Mike loved hunting, fishing, golfing and family vacations in the Outer Banks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the funeral home.
