Pattie Newton Barrett, 82, of Wakefield, died on Monday, February 16, 2009. Born in Brunswick County on June 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Jackson and Adeline Maitland Newton. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Littleton.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, David Paul Barrett of Wakefield; a son, Douglas B. Barrett of Chesterfield; a sister, Dorothy N. Savedge of Littleton; a brother, Willie Bernard Newton of Petersburg; a grandson, Christopher Michael Barrett of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David Paul Barrett, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield. Rev. Connie Gibbs Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 PM and then for a short time after the funeral service at the Wakefield United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Waverly Rescue Squad, PO Box 583, Waverly, VA 23890. Condolences may be posted to www.jtmorriss.com .
