Paul A. Cobb, Sr., 72, a resident of Drewryville, VA., passed away Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2006. Born September 30, 1933 in Southampton County he was a son of the late Albert Ellis Cobb and Virginia Grizzard Cobb. Paul was a retired farmer and he attended the Capron Home Fellowship. An avid hunter he was a member of the Little Texas Hunt Club; and loved gardening and baseball. He was a tank driver in the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shelva Lee Cobb; a daughter, Paula Cobb Day and husband, Bill, of Capron; two sons, Paul Alexander â??Lexâ? Cobb, Jr. and wife, Mariah, and Joseph Mark Cobb and wife, Katie, all of Drewryville; sister, Martha Ann Cobb Hedgepeth and husband, Emory, of Atlanta, GA; brother, Ellis P. Cobb and wife, Eva Wrenn, of Drewryville; grandchildren, Weldon Alexander â??Nickâ? Nichols, Alexa Lee Nichols, Cullen Mark Cobb, Zachary Allen Cobb, Paul Alexander â??Alexâ? Cobb, III, Noah Collins Cobb, and Mary-Katherine Lee Cobb; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with William Hart Gillette, the Rev. Jim Smith, and the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening at the residence of Bill and Paula Day, 22371 Popes Station Rd., Capron, and at other times at the residence of Paul and Shelva Cobb on Fox Branch Rd., Drewryville. Following the service Tuesday afternoon the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Boykins Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association, Attn: Susan Story, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, VA 23851. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements.
